Have you seen those ads that say that dancing is fun and easy? Ads that feature happy people looking longingly into each other’s eyes? Ads that make dancing look romantic?
Unfortunately, those ads are lies. Many of dance studios have all been lying to you for years about what dancing really is and what it takes to become a great dancer.
The reality is that learning to dance takes time, dedication, self-discipline, passion and work. Lots of work. However, it is realistic to learn to dance, even if you are total beginner. For this class, we are looking for dedicated people with a “can do” attitude, we will provide training so you can develop your skillstrain the skills.
When people learn something new it is never easy. However, if they are persistent, if they work hard, if they practice, they learn. The same applies in dancing. Some people want to “dance” because it is “fun” and they can meet people and enjoy life. If this is what you want to do, just go to a bar or night club. You will fit right in. This class is for people looking for self-improvement first.
If you want to learn to dance for yourself, this class is for you. If you want to improve your movement, coordination and balance, this class is for you. If you want to find out how far you can push yourself, this class is for you. If you are willing to challenge what you already know and learn something different, this class is for you.
There will be sweat, lots of it. So if you are against sweating, then go to a movie. There may be occasional tears or frustration. But if you are willing to stick with it, you will improve, you will become a better dancer. And you will know it.
Now the real question is, are you up to the challenge?
This class is designed for beginners, you do not need to know how to dance. However, if you have some dance experience, some musical experience, some athletic experience, that is a plus.
We will be teaching basic Ballroom and Latin dances in this class: Waltz, Foxtrot, ChaCha, Rumba and the like. We will teach steps, counts, some technique, how to dance by yourself and how to dance with a partner. Plus we will cover many areas traditional group classes don’t (Those who attend will find out what these are).
Class will meet two times per week, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:00-9:00pm. Class starts on Tuesday, September 12. Last day of class, Thursday, December 14. We look forward to seeing you in class.
