2019 Holiday Dance Showcase
2019 Holiday Dance Showcase was an evening of dance performances presented by DanceSport Club during Holiday Season. We normally have lots of snack food and beveragtes as well as social dancing and entertainment. Holiday Dance Showcase is a celebration of dance. It gives students an opportunity to present their accomplishments. It gives parents an opportunity to be proud of their children. It allows teachers to showcase their skills as dance instructors. It allows people just sit, watch and enjoy perofrmances in a festive holiday atmosphere.
We showcase talented dancers of all kind. We have beginner students who just started dancing and are currently taking group classes. We have more advanced dancers who are polishing their moves in private lessons. We have people that dance for fun of social dance and we have people that strive to achieve better results at dance competitions. For some performers Holiday Showcase is the first time they ever dance in front of people, while others have done it several times.
Please enjoy these pictures and videos from our 2019 Holiday Dance Showcase! These dancers put a lot of effort and dedication in their performances. Thus, please cheer for them even though it is a thing of past. However, remember that there is always another showcase coming up this year! You are welcome to join it as a spectator or a performer.
Children 4-8 years old ballet performance
Many little girls dream of becoming ballerinas. In our kids Ballet dance classes we give them opportunity not only to learn basics of ballet but also make their parents and relatives proud by performing at our Holiday Dance Showcase. This is a very important and exciting event for children. For some, it is the very first time they perofm in public! In our classes we start preparing for showcase well in advance so that children have plenty of time to learn routine and practice it. This year we had a special performance to a song from Frozen 2 movie. Movie was a big hit and all the girls were very much looking forward to dressing up as little Elsas! In addition, we had Olaf as our special guest.
Roy and Jeanette - American Foxtrot
Roy is an experienced dancer and Foxtrot is his favourite dance! During his private dance lessons he tirelesly works on his technique and tries to make every step perfect. Roy is a very dedicated dancer! This Holiday Dance Showcase we decided to create an American style Foxtrot routine for him to perform. Roy was very excited about this performance and even found mint colored shirt that matched his partner's dress!
Mike and Ann - American Tango
Mike and Ann are an Amateur couple who has been taking our group Ballroom dance classes for a while. They really like to learn new dances and from time to time attend our Friday Social Dance to meet their dance friends and practice what they learned in class. In addition to social dancing they like to perform and do not miss a single opportunity be it Holiday Dance Showcase or Open House. For their perofmances they take some extra private dance lessons so that we can create original choreography for them. This year they have been focusing quite a bit on Tango. During their practices they were trying to get into "ferocious" tango mood. We think they got it down pretty well!
Tobias and Marla - International Jive
Tobi and Marla are 7 and 8 years old. They have been dancing to gether for approximately one year. They mostly attend our children group Ballroom and Latin dance classes. However, they take some extra private dance lessons to get ready for their performances or competitions. Yes, even though they have not been dancing for that long, they already participated at a Texas Challenge DanceSport competition! They danced in Newcomer category and got 1st place.
For this Holiday Dance Showcase they wanted to dance something fun and energetic, so we suggested Jive. We used "Text Me Merry Christmas" song and made them gigantic iPhones so that they can do their intro. They danced great and the perofrmance was awesome!
Denis and Jeanette - International ChaCha
Denis and Jeanette are our dance instructors here at DanceSport Club. They teach many group classes and private dance lessons. They coach many dances that participate in our Holiday Dance Showcase. They never danced ChaCha at our showcase, so that was their choice for this year. That was a great performance! However, as Denis recalled, that Santa costume was very hot :)
Rabih and Le Anh - International Quickstep
Le Anh and her teacher Rabih danced fun quickstep. The original part of their performance was when Rabih drove Le Anh around dance floor on his tricycle. However, you will not see it on the video since video people did not record that part :(
Aaron and Kate - International Rumba
Aaron and Kate are an Amateur couple who really like International style Latin dance. For their performance they decided to dance slow and romantic Rumba. Great job.
